He's tried to destroy worlds before, devour them with the darkness he has. He'll take people's hearts, literally, and leave them as mindless creatures only seeking to take other hearts in turn.

Well, here, your body is destroyed and all that's left is the darkness that was once in your heart, taking on a corporeal shape. If you're strong enough, you might retain something that looks somewhat humanoid. If you're not, then you're reduced to nothing but a little hunched over figure with claws and only a desire to take.

It's an anagram. No Heart X. X being the symbol people have taken to mean 'nothing', without emotion, without feeling. The Nobodies, those without hearts, put x's in their names to distinguish themselves from their previous forms.

Nobodies do, only if their hearts and wills were strong enough. Even after the heart has left the body, if they possessed a strong enough will...their bodies would reform as husks. That's the shell of a Nobody, in a sense. They come back looking like their human forms.

Most don't. There's only ever been thirteen known Nobodies.
