No. What I discounted was his past as a factor in whether or not he should be allowed to continue on as before.

What's more, Mr. Riku, he's told me of his past. What he's suffered is that someone did not love him back. Tell me: is there any more to it than that?

I'll take him at his word in that case, because there's no point in speculating on whether he is lying in this instance - notwithstanding that he has before. I'll simply say that while that is a tragedy, it does not negate the fact of his murders now.
