[After about thirty minutes, it would have been earlier if toenail polish dried faster, Jinx showed up at Riku's door. Her hair was messy from her helmet, her jacket was wet, and her hands were freezing in her gloves. Without knocking, she walked in and began to strip out of all extra clothing.]
I've deciding I'm canceling winter. I'm going to find a really old book, chant some voodoo, and it'll be summer again. I swear to all things dark and unholy, Riku.
[He pokes his head out from the kitchen and leaves the pan to go help her, closing and locking the door behind her. He briefly reaches out to smooth her hair back a little.]
No can do. Christmas is that time of year for ice skating rinks, fake snow, and the occasional El NiƱo.
[She barely had enough feeling in her hands to take off her gloves. She pulled one off with her teeth, then wrapped her arms around Riku's middle. When she looked up at him, her cheeks and nose were pink with cold.] I might make an exception for your birthday, but you'll have to be good.
[She follows, slipping out of her shoes on the way.]
Joe asks me for a lot of things. He receives little. [Despite his suggestion, Jinx stays clear of the stove. No use in burning the place down while he's cooking.] Hurry up with dinner, will you? I need a couch, a warm boy, and a lot of hugging.
Yeah, I've noticed. [He stirs the noodles around with the vegetables and tiny bits of chicken, and he looks over at her.] Grab a blanket and crash on the couch. I'll bring in food in just a minute.
If you insist. [Jinx squeezes his shoulder with a smile before she does as he suggested. Wrapping a blanket over her shoulders, she settles down into the couch, feet curled under her, and watches him.]

The things I do for you! The next thing I know, you'll be begging me for a white Christmas. Do you want me to dress in red and give you presents, too?

Here, it's warm in here. Stand near the stove. [He snerks a little.] Nah, don't worry about that. Joe might ask you, though.

[He makes them both a bowl and two glasses of water, and then he joins her on the couch, as promised.] What's on your mind, Jinx?

What is this, Riku?

[He lets her lean and takes a small bite of food, not enough to make it embarrassing if he needed to speak.]

Us.
